Independence Day Closure
The library will be closed on Thursday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. We will reopen on Friday, July 5 at 9:30 a.m.
Pie Auction to Benefit the Black Earth Library
Tuesday, July 30 at 6:00 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park
Enjoy a pie and live music in the park! The Friends of the Black Earth Library will be auctioning off donated pies during the concert’s intermission. Enjoy your pie during the concert or take it home with you to enjoy later. Eating utensils will be available. Pie donations from community members are welcome. Drop them off at the park prior to the concert. (Please only donate pies that do not require refrigeration.)
Summer Library Program - “Adventure Begins at Your Library”
Summer Library Program bags are available! We have bags for children from birth – 5th grade, students in 6th – 12th grade, and adults. Readers of all ages, including babies and adults, can join our Beanstack Summer Reading Challenge from now until August 10. Join us on Friday, July 5 at 1pm for a family movie matinee at the Black Earth Municipal Building.
Great for the whole family, from kids to adults. Movie is rated PG. Kids under 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Runtime: 92 minutes.

Mondays, July 8, 15, 22, 29 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Join us for Messy Monday in Veterans Park! Our fun sensory bin activities are designed to help little ones build fine motor and early literacy skills. Just don't forget to come dressed for a mess. Please note: Outdoor programs will move into the library if the weather is stormy.
Storytime at the Library

Join us for stories, songs, and fun activities with friends. Best for babies and toddlers, but the whole family is welcome.
Toddler Art at the Library

Come create, explore, and play at the library! Our art experiments for little hands are designed to encourage curiosity and build motor skills. Enjoy the process and come dressed for a mess.
Crafternoon in Veterans Park

Make fun crafts in the park on Wednesday afternoons. Great for kids 5 and up, but the whole family is welcome. No registration required. Please note: Outdoor programs will move into the library if the weather is stormy.
LEGO Club at the Library
Fridays, July 12 – August 2 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Come to the library for LEGO Club! Build with friends, and enjoy some snacks. Best for school-age kids, but the whole family is welcome.
Wading in Black Earth Creek with Stream Biologists & BECWA
Monday, July 15 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Salmo Pond (Parking available at 4809 Scherbel Road)
Join the Black Earth Public Library & Mazomanie Free Library as we wade and explore the Black Earth Creek near Salmo Pond with Stream Biologists and the Black Earth Creek Watershed Association. We’ll have waders available for kids in 1st grade and up, as well as for teens and adults! Don’t forget to bring a towel and come dressed to get wet. Also, older and secure footwear is recommended since we’ll be walking through grass and mud. You don’t want your shoes to get stuck in the muck! Adult supervision is required for kids. Please note: Everyone wades at their own risk. Sign up at the Black Earth or Mazomanie Library.

Tween & Teen Book Swap with Build-Your-Own Iced Coffee & Tea

Would you like to refresh the books that you have at home? Well, come to the library and exchange up to 5 books with friends. Clean out your old book stash and “shop” for new ones for free! Plus you can enjoy making your own iced coffee and/or iced tea. Best for students in 4th grade and up.

Teen Advisory Board Monthly Meeting

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to join us at our next Teen Advisory Board Monthly Meeting. We will be playing games, planning future programs, and eating snacks!

Spice of the Month Club
The library is now offering the "Spice of the Month Club.” Each month we will be providing "take-and-make" kits featuring a different spice, herb, or blend. Each kit will include information about the featured spice, two simple recipe suggestions, and enough spice to make both of the recipes included. The kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. For July we’ll be offering rosemary.
Book Discussion

Join us for a discussion of the novel Horse by Geraldine Brooks. Copies of the book, including large print copies, are available at the library.
Adult (and Teen!) Craft Night: Reusable Sticker Books
Thursday, July 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the Black Earth Municipal Building Meeting Room
Adults and teens are welcome to join us to make reusable sticker books! These books will let you enjoy the stickers you accumulate during your adventures until you find their forever home. Stick them to the pages for now, and pull them off to restick anytime you want. Each book contains 24 pages. You'll also learn some techniques for decorating your book, including Zentangles and some lettering techniques. All supplies provided. No registration required.
Garden Club
Thursday, July 25 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Veterans Park
Garden Club is an informal discussion with area gardeners and growers where you can get advice from others in the community. Whether you're just starting out with your garden or are a Master Gardener, please come by to ask questions and share your experiences! Garden Club meets on the fourth Thursday of the month during the spring and summer. This is a volunteer-led program.
